Michael W. Brown, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Brown joined Urology Specialists in 1987. He earned his medical degree at Northwestern University School of Medicine in 1980, and completed his residency at Duke University Medical Center in 1986. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is board certified by the American Board of Urology. He is also a member of the American Urologic Association, American Medical Association and American Association of Clinical Urologists.

Dr. Brown has been active throughout his career to bring new urologic technology to the Huntsville community, including urologic applications of laparoscopy, robotic surgery, seed implantation for prostate cancer, magnetic resonance fusion imaging for diagnosis of prostate cancer and ESWL for management of stone disease.

Dr. Brown’s service to the medical community has included positions as President of Medical Staff, Chief of the Division of Urology, and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Huntsville Hospital. He served on the Credentials Committee and is an ongoing member of the Cancer Committee. Dr. Brown was a previous Alabama representative to the Southeastern Section of the American Urologic Association. He is a founding and ongoing board member of Greater Alabama Lithotripsy, which provides lithotripsy service throughout the state of Alabama.

His special interests include urologic oncology, robotic laparosocopic surgery, stone disease (including percutaneous renal surgery), BPH management, laser surgery, vasectomy reversal, and general urology.

Dr. Brown is married with two children. In his free time he enjoys playing violin, rowing and cycling.
